Traditional Kimchi Culture

The art and practice of making Kimchi has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. With its unique flavor and health benefits, the tradition of kimchi making has gained worldwide popularity. Chef educator & Park Slope Food Class coordinator, Sung Uni Lee was privileged to be a taste-tester, in her youth, squatting next to her mother during this seasonal practice. During this workshop and tasting, she will demonstrate all the steps of how to make traditional Spicy Napa Cabbage Kimchi and introduce you to concept of kimjang, community based kimchi making gathering.

Family Meal - Dealing with Diabetes

Supporting a family member that has diabetes can seem restrictive especially at meal time. A mindful shift into embracing what we can eat rather than what we cannot will help you overcome the challenge by bringing delicious, nourishing food to the table. Communing with your loved ones also increases a feeling of overall well-being with the immeasurable added benefit of eating foods that steady energy and vitality to the whole family.

This is a hands-on cooking class that will give you actual techniques and practices for creating a delicious meal that will motivate and inspire. You will be delighted to discover the wonderful health benefits of readily available ingredients to regulate blood sugar, support the pancreas, and produce insulin. Working at the experiential level, you will garner information which will help clear up any confusion around food choices. Knowledge is power!
